Though the primary focus of 2019 for Corey Taylor will be Slipknot‘s forthcoming new album and the touring that follows behind it, he has already begun stockpiling material for the next Stone Sour album alongside his bandmates. Speaking recently with HEAVY Podcast Interviews, Taylor commented:
“We started writing new music pretty much as soon as we got on the road. We just can’t be stopped. We’re gluttons for punishment at this point. The cool thing is that knowing that we’ve got all this great material, we can kind of enjoy the rest as much as we can because we know when it’s time to really start ramping up the demo machine, we’re going to have all this cool stuff to listen to. There’s no pressure for us to just run right in.”
He continued:
“Obviously, I’m going to do Slipknot next year, and it will allow the audience to miss [Stone Sour], which is the best thing in the world you can have.”
Despite his touring commitments with Stone Sour and his apparent prolific writing sessions with them, Taylor has also been involved in the ongoing writing process for Slipknot‘s sixth studio album. He previously spoke about that earlier this summer, stating that the band planned to begin tracking in early 2019 and had already been demoing new material which he described as being “‘Iowa‘ levels of heavy.”
