Daron Malakian On System Of A Down: “As Of Right Now, System’s Not Making Albums”

While System Of A Down camp that while the band did get together to write around fifteen new songs awhile back, it doesn’t look like they will be recording/releasing them anytime soon. At one point, the band’s guitarist/vocalist Daron Malakian held off from releasing new Scars On Broadway material just in case he wanted to use some of the song ideas in System Of A Down instead.

Malakian recently spoke with Kerrang! about the Scars On Broadway‘s long-delayed new album “Dictator“, which was mostly originally written and recorded back in 2012. Regarding that and System Of A Down‘s current status, he offered:

“I think the Scars stuff tends to take more of a rock direction, even though I would say there’s a lot of material on this album that I think has more of a System Of A Down flavor in it than maybe the first Scars album did… As of right now, System’s not making albums, so this is the project through which I’m releasing my songs.”

Dictator” will be released on July 20th.
