Underoath‘s recently released new single “On My Teeth” took some of the band’s more religious fans by surprise with it’s usage of swearing (the line ‘I’m not your fucking prey’ is uttered.) Given that they started as a Christian band, some of the band’s more faith-oriented fans were caught off guard.
While the band have publicly described themselves as no longer being a Christian band as far back as 2015 (see here,) frontman Spencer Chamberlain still felt compelled to speak on the matter. He recently tweeted:
So here’s the thing… Underoath is the healthiest and happiest we have ever been in our entire career, we may have different viewpoints or beliefs that you may or may NOT have but that certainly does NOT mean we are lost or in a worse spot than before.
We’ve all grown…a lot— Spencer Chamberlain (@wschamberlain) February 25, 2018
The band’s new album “Erase Me“—their first since 2019—will be released on April 06th through Fearless Records.
