Killswitch Engage spoke of a number of tracks set for inclusion upon their forthcoming album “Incarnate” as part of their cover story in the latest issue of Revolver. That album is due out in March on Roadrunner. Of the tracks revealed are:
“It Falls On Me”
“Upraised”
“Until The Day I Die”
“The Burden And The Noose”
Guitarist and producer Adam Dutkiewicz also had some insight to share on those songs, describing “It Falls On Me” as “ambient in places, with lots of textures and swirly things.” Frontman Jesse Leach also chimed in, saying “Upraised” “has an almost post-metal vibe, with odd time signatures and a lot of effects and delay. And then it kicks into a massive chorus, the kind of thing that will make people’s hair stand up on end. And I’m pushing my voice higher than I ever have on it.”
Leach went on to describe “Until The Day I Die” as being the band’s own take at a road song in the spiritual vein of Bob Seger‘s “Turn The Page” and Iron Maiden‘s “Wasted Years“. Dutkiewicz said that the song was a “mover and a shaker” and “a little cock-rockish” though pointed out it has a lead guitar in the style of In Flames.
Leach later said of “Incarnate” as a whole:
“It’s definitely a darker record than “Disarm The Descent“, or even “Alive Or Just Breathing“. It’s more realistic, more honest. And lyrically, I’m dealing with a lot more pain. I’m at a point now in my life where I question a lot of what I was brought up on. I think there’s a lot of that in the lyrics.”
There’s a lot more on that to be read in the issue itself. Thus far Killswitch Engage have released “Strength Of Mind” from “Incarnate“, you can watch the video for that here.
