Burn Eternal, the long gestating project reuniting Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz with the latter band’s former frontman Howards Jones, seems to be stuck in a perpetual state of limbo. Back in 2023, the group revealed that they were finishing up their debut album together, and in the spring of 2024, mixing for that record was underway. Fast-forward two years later and we’ve yet to hear so much as a single from the band.
Speaking recently with Metal Injection, Dutkiewicz gave an update on the project, but it seems that long wait will continue for now. He said of the current status of the record:
“I’m very excited for the Burn Eternal thing, man. I’m getting upset that it’s taking so long. It’s partially our management’s fault. It’s partially us talking to a lot of record companies. We were trying to hammer out a deal with the right record company to put it out. And then the style of deal, nowadays, record deals have changed so drastically because of the way revenue is made from album sales or the lack of album sales.
The record’s been mixed and mastered for months now. And the vinyl mastering is done. The regular record mastering is done. Now, we’re trying to source out artwork. We’re ready to go.”
As for if the pair plan to celebrate this project with any future live shows, Dutkiewicz offered:
“Jones and I have talked about it. Yeah, we’re very interested in bringing it on tour, if people want it, that is. You know, the demand has to be there, obviously. But then I obviously have to find a band to play it. So there’s that part.”
