Update – October 24th 9:16pm:
There’s more to the conversation between Fronzak and Senses Fail, which you can now see below:
As it turns out, Attila frontman Chris Fronzak wasn’t just defending himself of homophobic allegations from listeners yesterday. It would appear that his first retort on the matter was directed towards Senses Fail. The following two tweets spell out the potential beef:
How many times can @ATTILAga insult the LGBTQ community in 3:00 min? I lost count.
— Senses Fail (@SensesFail) October 22, 2014
If you think I'm homophobic in any way possible, you're clearly either an idiot or you're in a washed up band that nobody cares about
— LORD ZILLA THE FIRST (@FRONZ1LLA) October 22, 2014
@FRONZ1LLA also didn't say you are homophobic at all, just thought the over use of the F word in your new song needed to be mentioned
— Senses Fail (@SensesFail) October 22, 2014
I hope when I'm old & shot I can find better ways to get press than to talk shit about bands half my age hahaha. I'm too smart for that.
— LORD ZILLA THE FIRST (@FRONZ1LLA) October 22, 2014
@FRONZ1LLA not talking shit just asking you to think twice about using the word faggot. Is that really such a bad thing to ask?
— Senses Fail (@SensesFail) October 22, 2014
@SensesFail it's 2014 bruh, get over it. Don't get offended by a silly word. I've never used it in a derogatory context. Gay people rule.
— LORD ZILLA THE FIRST (@FRONZ1LLA) October 22, 2014
@FRONZ1LLA the use of the word faggot is in itself derogatory
— Senses Fail (@SensesFail) October 22, 2014
Fronzak did do some damage control later on, explaining his liberal usage of a homophobic slur in the bands new song “Proving Grounds“. You can read that here.
Meanwhile, Remembering Never have come out in support of Senses Fail on the matter, offering:
“Wow, good for the dude from Senses Fail to call out a joker ass band. That type of ignorance shouldn’t be tolerated, especially from some unoriginal, corny, white washed, nerdy fucking horseshit, regardless of the genre. This is the kind of monstrosity that is oblivious to actual issues in the world, the negligence of which is the end of the world. This isn’t some cool metal phrase, but the reality. This is what keeps the youth stupid and unaware of the struggles oppressed people face. If i’ve said it once, i’ve said it a million times, SUPPORT BANDS WITH SOMETHING TO CONTRIBUTE. Substance over style. If it aint Rick James, it aint party music anyhow.”
