    • This show was amazing. Great to hear Emergency Broadcast with two drummers – as it was recorded on the album. As stellar as the show was, it was also odd to witness – especially during the end. During the last song, Tim tossed his guitar as he was crowdsurfing and Chris unplugged all of his electronic stuff and tossed it in the crowd along with the percussion drums as well. Great band and sad to see them go. They definitely brought it every time I saw them.

      • I was hoping for a setlist skewed towards TOCS and was hoping they’d still play something such as When The Sun Sleeps, so I was disappointed on that end. letlive. killed it, As Cities Burn were pretty damn boring, and mewithoutYou were pretty out of place but after a few songs I was digging them.

        • Were you at the St. Pete show? How out of control was it when Jason from letlive. tried to access the 2nd floor of the adjacent apartment via the balcony? That band is so rock n’ roll – throwing a little b&e into their set! I wish I had a video of that. My buddies and I ran into him immediately following their set in a restroom (of all places) and we gave him much respect for bringing it back to being threatening.

As far as the UO set, I know I’ll get shot for saying this, but I actually prefer their later stuff. I didn’t get into DTGL when it first came out because I thought it was too all over the place ADD style. Then when LITSOS came out I was more open to their style of music and I appreciated the darker more artsy direction. I know they have tons of history and I enjoy the older songs live, but I just never connected with the older material. And you’re right, the setlist only had four songs that weren’t on DTGL or later, so I can see how a fan of the older stuff would be disappointed.

Are you going to Gojira, Caspian/Junius, or Meshuggah in Orlando? We should get a drink!

        • Nope I was at the Detroit show, but I looked at setlist.fm and it appears as though they played the same setlist the entire tour (which makes sense from a production standpoint). I’ve seen Jason climb to the balcony from the stage in 2 venues here, 1 being much more difficult than the other. Another one he ran around in the circle pit, and he was hanging out in the lobby when UO was done.

I started listening to UO just a few months before TOCS, so that was my go-to album of theirs. It was like when I saw Thrice on their farewell tour – I would’ve been more than happy with The Artist in the Ambulance front-to-back taking up half of their set. I guess I can’t complain too much, that was about the 7th time I’ve seen UO so I’ve been through quite a few album cycles. RIP.

Someone told me once “seeing Underoath is an experience”. They were right. Underoath found a way to take the presentation to the next level IMO. Very saddening to see them go away. Watching them play at Dallas was bittersweet.

I hope that Spencer keeps rocking (I’ve been very impressed with his singing on the bands final two songs they recorded).

      • That’s something I forgot to mention – I couldn’t believe how well he could sing. I had no idea he was capable of it, as the last time I saw them right after Aaron left they had Tim do all the clean vocals.

    • Underoath didn’t stay ahead of the curve, they created it. Sad that so many bands that got lumped into their same genre were afraid to take the same risks that they did of the course of their career. *Also didn’t hurt that Adam D was their producer.
