Sounds awesome.
I like how they went from “we think we’re going to take a break” to “nm, new album/tours next year” – and I’m being serious, they’re awesome.
Thinking the same thing. Pleasing news. However, this isn’t a farewell album/tour is it?
From what I’ve read/heard, this is supposed to be a farewell album/tours over the next year or so. Fuckin dont want it to be though.
Fuck. Yes. That’s the sound I was hoping to hear. I wasn’t a huge fan of their last two albums but hearing this makes me pretty excited for the new one.
Sevendust had an impact on Johnny K? “I mean deny that!” Good job you guys!
These guys are the true grinders of metal. They’ve been around for almost 20 years now and haven’t achieved a fraction of the success as some of the other bands of that era.
They could have easily called it a day several times over and no one would have really faulted them for it.
Yet, they have out-lasted and, in my opinion, continue to out-perform those same bands.
Good on them. They are truly what music is all about.
I’d call them grinders of hard rock. Or maybe even hoagies of hard rock.
Using the word “grind” and “metal” when referring to Sevendust brings up a lot of real issues.
Who were the idiots who disagreed with this post? Being one of my favorite bands ever, I’d have to agree that Sevendust aren’t really a “metal” band.
I couldn’t disagree more, Wurst. When I think of “hard-rock” I think of bands like Shinedown, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, etc…Sevendust originated as a “nu-metal” band, and I think most people would agree that they, for the most part, still fall into that category.
Well, I’m sorry you have such a narrow scope when it comes to defining what bands fit into specific genres. But, the fact is, I would never call them metal. I guess they would be somewhere between metal and hard rock, if that was possible. I would simply label the bands you mentioned above as rock bands…there’s nothing “heavy” or “hard” about those bands, dude.

Nice. The heavyness of their latest, with the strong melodies of the Animosity/Seasons era.
Bring this shit on! I’ve had Cold Day Memory on repeat for about a week now driving to work and back. Can’t wait to see them live for the 100th time.

Never ceases to amaze me that so many people around here like this band. I get the Deftones, but not this. These guys got stale for me after Animosity while I was still in high school. But hey I’m all for you guys enjoying some equal opportunity hard rockin’. I’ll stick with Living Colour thank you very much.
Haha you think Living Colour is better than Sevendust?! Don’t get me wrong, I love Living Colour. I’m 33 and have been a fan since their debut, but c’mon man. Name a single album of LC’s where half the songs aren’t lame. Sevendust puts out albums without filler and garbage.
I had no fucking clue who Living Colour was. I googled them and come to find out they do CM Punks theme song. HAHAHA! Gay.
… except CoP came out in the late 80′s, and regained some prominence on Guitar Hero 3 in addition to being a bad ass song.
You call LC gay but YOU watch wrestling. I rest my case.
You say they got stale, but I say they’ve got their own distinct sound ala Metallica, Sabbath, etc. When a Sevendust song starts, I know it’s a Sevendust song – and that’s not in the same vein as Evanescence or Creed where all of their songs sound the same, but in that Sevendust has their own distinct style that separates them from all other bands. I can’t believe they’re not playing larger venues as I’ve never met an individual in person who doesn’t like these guys.
