Machine Head Joined Onstage By 13 Year Old Fan In Buffalo, NY, Footage Available

Machine Head invited a 13 year old fan by the name of Anthony Potenza onstage in Buffalo, NY this past Sunday, January 29th, to play with them. Apparently Potenza was holding a sign which read “let this 13 year old play Aesthetics Of Hate with you”. The band noticed the sign and let him do just that.

You can find video footage of it below:

They’ve done this before, no? I remember seeing a video on youtube a while ago with a youngster they brought up who shredded this same jam.

Good for him, man. Get this kid a band.

  • adamonfire

I like it when bands do this – the only time I’ve ever seen it in person was when Eve 6 let a kid play bass for a song at my school.

  • goop

That made my day. Machine Head, you’re one of the good ones.

  • Weird_White_Dude

Fuck yes. VERY cool move on Machine Head’s part.

  • MetalMusicAddict

Yeah. They’ve done this with drummers also. Very cool of MH. Not all hung up on them being the rock stars on stage. It’s makes some folks years i’m sure.

Can’t wait to see ‘em in 2 days. \m/

Fuck yeah, impressive on both ends. The kid shreds the shit out of this song, and MH have tons of respect for their fans. They could have blown it off as “a dumb kid with a dumb sign, he can’t play guitar”. Instead they gave it a shot, and it was awesome. My already high respect for Machine Head has been boosted.

saw them play in T.O. on the weekend! They tore the place down…and now this!
You’re a class act Machine Head! Class Act!

  • HonoluluBlueBalls

This almost makes me feel bad about all the shit I talked about this band in 1999. Hopefully the kid used his moment as leverage and lost his virginity to some random groupie after the show.

      enjoyed your comment :D

HAHA!! No doubt, that kid better have gotten ass after that performance! Good for him, that’s badass! He probabaly needed new set of shorts afterwards…

  • southpawchew

wow i dont care who the hell you are and even if u dont like machine head that is fing cool. and to get on stage play a song with a headlining band is bad ass. congrads kid. i woulda went to this had i not been broke and not wanting to pay to see suicide silence but i guess i did miss out. this may be this kids highlight for the next 5 years!

I know I’ve seen another video of Machine Head doing this. Same song as well. Very, very cool. Only time in person I’ve seen a band do this was Green Day a long time ago. Terrible show but that was the highlight for sure.

Anyway, well done, MH. Well done.

I saw The Casualties do this with a kid on the drum kit that was only like 13 or 14. Super awesome when bands of the caliber of them and Machine Head are down to earth enough to have some fun and give young kids a killer memory.

  • chtimixeur

They did it twice with a guy named Peter (in Austria and Finland if I remember correctly), and unlike this 13 year old, he absolutely nailed it.
Avenged Sevenfold also did, but with a drummer.

  • Lifeseclipse

My friend’s younger brother tried to get onstage with Avenged Sevenfold cuz he wanted to sing a part with them, they were like no way.

  • xasafx

that kid picked a pretty serious song. over 6 minutes and he nailed to solo.

  • ubermike

That kid was awesome! Machine Head shows similar respect and appreciation for all their fans. At a show in Toronto a few years back, Rob lost his voice and instead of cancelling the show, he sang Imperium and had fans sign up to sing their full set, on the condition that they’d do a shot and stage dive at the end.

my love for MH is burning even more now ;)
