please stop this solo shit and go back to soad kthanxbye
To be honest. This is the first time I seen or heard Serj’s side project….I guess I’m not missing much besides SOAD right now.
they all need to stop their side project crap and go back to soad and old soad please not this radio friendly bullshit, I’m talking first cd and demos please
FP, as much as I’d love that, I seriously doubt it will happen. The Toxicity album was the perfect intersection of heavy aggression and radio accessibility, and once SOAD took the left fork – as many bands who taste that kind of fame seem to do – there was little chance of them ever backtracking. Let’s cherish our s/t and demos, because that’s the heaviest and craziest these guys will ever be.
omfg, this video is stupid. yeah i get it, white people that buy ur music suck and are dicks. I’m more native american then this asshole will ever be and you dont see me crying bloody mary. sorry, I got passed my soad phase after Ozzfeast 99. by the time toxicity came out I was done. Again, this video is horribly done. I feel bad that serj wasted money on it.
there are better songs on the album, Imperfect Harmonies is very emotional
Man, Serj on his own always makes me laugh when I listen to it. I think he sounds kind of ridiculous.
@allichs – Props for the timely, against the grain, and always hilarious comment. Keep ‘em comin’!
man I use to freaking LOVE soad. had some good ol’ times listening to them! probably took my soad poster down in like 2003 or so…but they will always have a special place in my heart <3 and Darrens side project Scars on Broadway is awesome!!! not radio friendly at all…find me ONE of their songs that doesnt use the words fuck, blowjob, titties, or slut. I dare you to try.
@Afganistam
Despite my better judgement I took you up on your dare, and quite surprisingly found that the first 5 songs on their s/t release do not contain any of the aforementioned buzzwords. However, I had to stop after that because my eyes began to shrivel up as they subconsciously revolted against the horror I had just put them through. Please do not suggest any more dares, as I will most likely follow through and cause myself more anguish.
haha yeah I was definately procrastinating some. but what’s all this madness about your eyeballs revolting in horror? were you looking into the mirror for too long or something? muahahaha XD
Touche, but my point was that although SoB certainly does not lack in the frenetic and passionate category, Daron could hardly be considered a lyrical genius. Reading his musings detached from the music of Scars reminds me of what a crack-addicted twelve year old would write in her daily journal. Though I do agree with you that musically they rock something fierce.
I really like Serj’s solo stuff, call me crazy but when he played with the Auckland orchestra it blew my fucking mind and gave me chills like no other, the guy is so talented and he needs an output, yes I also grew up with Spiders, Suggestions etc… They are getting back together; it’s great to hear, first Limp Bizklit, then SOAD and RATM and Snot (to a smaller extent) I want to hear this shit again, the music industry is so convoluted that everything is fucked, EVERYTHING IS OVER SATURATED.

You can’t watch this and appreciate everything that SOAD has done, Darren on guitar helping out, such an amazing video.
The video is stupid…
@AMeN: If “EVERYTHING IS OVER SATURATED,” how does having bands reunite help things? Shouldn’t you be wishing for new artists to come through and change things up? Also, how can everything be “over” saturated? Doesn’t saturation apply that everything has already fully absorbed everything else?
Gotta be honest, I didn’t mind his first solo record, but the second one is fucking garbage. It’s terrible, it sounds like he just wrote a bunch of songs then spent 2 hours on pro tools adding electronic elements to ruin them.
The remix shit is even worse.
I agree, go back to SOAD Serj, no one gives a fuck about this shit.
I dont want to be the spamming asshole… but people are reading this thread….. There’s a lot of terrible modern pop/rock music.
My band is radio friendly(kinda), and we kick ass. We would like to embody everything that is good about hard rock. Big chorus’s, solid musicianship, an exciting singer, big production… check out three songs off our, Old Ironsides upcoming album, The Path To Madness.

“I dont (sic) want to be the spamming asshole…” buuuuuuut I will.
Never seen advertising in a post before, pass….
At least Stenny is honest. But I gotta break to you Stenny. Everyone thinks that their band is awesome, solid musicanship, exciting (aka badass) singer. I mean why not? you’re in it.
If you REALLY want to know what people think about your band? Try showing the music to all your friends without them knowing it’s your band. I bet you’ll hear a very different “honest” story.
I couldn’t tell if Stenny’s band is serious, considering one of your songs is titled ‘Muslim Hunter’. But yeah, it’s not the worst hard rock I’ve heard.
No… my band is pretty great. And the music is really original.
Oh yeah, my shit doesn’t stink, FYI.
No, I just wanted to get some real reactions…. not “your advertising so I’m not going to listen” – I’ve been coming here for a long ass time, and often feel generally the same way the non-stupid posters feel. Breakdowns suck, the Deftones are great, and most modern metal really sucks. I like stuff that pulls the ‘rock’ scene forward. I feel like my band is a kick in the balls to the modern rock radio scene. Listen to “breaking loose (into the sky)” and tell me it doesnt belong on rock radio. It blows shit out of the water.
And its Tomcat: Muslim Hunter. It’s supposed to piss people off, because the song has nothing to do with religion, and the band feels people can worship whatever God(s) they please. And it’s a thrashy song with a great second half.
Will someone give an honest review? Not an agnst filled “I don’t play an instrument, therefore I’m a sour puss. Just because your in a band doesn’t mean your good” banter.
The band is good, the band is called Old Ironsides, and all I wanted was some honest critiques.
I know you’ve been here for a long time, and I respect that Stenny. My honest opinion is that your band sounds like what I hear on my local hard rock station. Not saying that is a bad thing, but I’ve never really been a fan of it. Keep on rockin’.
“My honest opinion is that your band sounds like what I hear on my local hard rock station”. Respect
Did you make it through the whole track? The bridge is fantastic! This song has a lot of changes(for example the ending is its own part), and my singers voice sounds pretty damn original to me. But thanks for listening!
