Avenged Sevenfold Play First Show Since The Rev’s Passing, Footage Available
Avenged Sevenfold made their live debut with Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy over the weekend as part of the Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, QC. The show marked the bands first performance since the passing of their drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan late last year. Some fan-filmed footage of the set can be found below. Portnoy, who also tracked the drums for the bands new album, will also be handling the live percussion duties for the next few months. The groups new album “Nightmare” will land in stores tomorrow, July 27th.

I absolutely loved Waking the Fallen…. I wish their recent stuff sounded similar. For that I’ll always like these guys, but certainly not as much as in that time period. I wish there were videos of Unholy Confessions and Chapter 4.

Since there are so many comments about how shitty their new music is, whether it is the musicianship or singing, lets have some people put their money where their mouths are. Take any A7X song and cover it, post it to youtube and let us judge just how good you are at your instrument or singing abilities, assuming all of you posting these types of comments can actually contribute to the musical world in the form of playing an instrument, not just commenting on theprp’s board. -but to be serious i will tell you why i hate this band now. a) i was a fan prior to city of evil. bought it, sold it back lightly used. b) i read interviews as city of evil came out where the band laughed mockingly about how the kids that had bat skulls tatoos on them would be mad about their new sound but were stuck with that tatoo forever. they seemed to mock kids who support their music before it sucked. fuck this band and all who defend them.
