A report posted over at Torrentfreak.com has word that Iron Maiden‘s recent world touring itinerary was in part influenced by the metrics and data gathered from the BitTorrent pirating of their music.
The reasoning being that those who pirated the bands albums are more “engaged” than who don’t share music, and thus had a higher chance of attending a show. You can read the entire feature at the above-mentioned link.

It has since come out that the company Musicmetric was never involved with the band nor was there any confirmation their data was even seen by the group, let alone used. For more on that head to Spin.com.
