It all came to an end for Brazilian metal legends Sepultura last night, November 07th. After announcing back in December of 2023 that they would be embarking upon a farewell tour that would wind down their career, the influential band played their final show. The Suhai Music Hall in São Paulo, Brazil hosted that final performance, after the band had originally set out to play the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu stadium.
As expected, neither of the Cavalera brothers were involved with the show, despite attempts having been made to have them partake. Both Max and Iggor Cavalera were key participants of the band’s early era, with Max‘s 1996 split being a bitter affair. Iggor would later exit the band in 2006.
Last night’s swan song wasn’t lacking in special guests however, with guitarist Andreas Kisser‘s son Yohan Kisser, Ethan Kahn & Sean Sterling from Chained Saint ,and Allan Wallace from Eminence taking part. Krisiun‘s Moyses Kolesne, Torture Squad‘s Amilcar Christofaro, and members of Ratos de Porão also all took part. Also hitting the stage for a trio of tracks was the band’s former guitarist Jairo Guedz.
According to those in attendance, there were also some surprising live returns in the setlist, including the first performance of “Itsári” since 1998. The marathon setlist for the show is said to have run as follows:
