Thrash metal’s reigning kings Metallica have newly announced 12 North American headlining shows for 2027. Nü-metal icons Limp Bizkit will be back as direct support for that run, which will find Swedish alternative metal outfit Avatar once again in the opening spot.
Metallica‘s camp said in part of this forthcoming run:
“We have been having so much fun on the road that we’re going to keep M72 rolling! We’ve added 12 additional North American shows in 2027, and we’ll be joined by tour buddies Limp Bizkit and Avatar, who are returning to our M72 party. Of course, we’ll have the same unique stadium production in the round at the 50-yard line, with the Snake Pit in the center of the stage providing a complete 360° view of the show. The festivities kick off on May 8, 2027, in Vancouver, Canada. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 25, at 10 AM Local Time, with presales beginning Monday, September 21.
Since we got started in April of 2023, we’ve played 99 M72 shows in 26 countries. This time around, we’ll be playing single shows, visiting a mix of NFL/CFL stadiums, colleges, and the homes of both men’s and women’s soccer teams. We’re covering a lot of ground from Buffalo all the way across the country to San Diego and many points in between, wrapping up in Salt Lake City on June 19.”
They also added:
“As always, a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to local charities via our foundation, All Within My Hands. Established in 2017 as a way to give back to communities that have supported Metallica over the years, All Within My Hands has raised over $20 million, providing $19 million in grants to career and technical education programs, including the ground-breaking Metallica Scholars Initiative, now in its eighth year, over $8.8 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $6.2 million to disaster relief efforts and other critical local services worldwide.”
Members of the band’s fan club will be granted access on Monday, September 21st, at 10:00am local time. Citi cardholders will be granted presale access starting next Tuesday, September 22nd at 10:00am local time. Verizon Access presale tickets will also go on sale at the same time. The general onsale will take place next Friday, September 25th, at 10:00am local time.
