Blood Vulture, the gothic sludge metal outfit fronted by Jordan Olds of ‘Two Minutes To Late Night‘ fame, have returned with another cover. After tackling Converge‘s “You Fail Me“ this past spring, the group have newly put their own spin on HIM‘s “Your Sweet Six Six Six“.
The Black Dahlia Murder drummer Alan Cassidy was among the guest musicians involved with this track. Olds went on to say of this latest rendition to be added to his already sizable cache of covers:
“I was a child of Jackass. any stunt they did, my friends and I were gonna try it. Any musician that made a cameo I was gonna listen to. HIM was my favorite of those musical discoveries.
They were a fearless band bringing maximalism, androgyny, and melodrama back to guitar music in a time where it was overrun with lowercase font, shame, and defensiveness. They also proudly wore their influences on their sleeves and introduced my generation to Type O and many other essential bands. This cover is a reminder to push myself to be as fearless as they were.
