Blood Vulture have issued a music video for their new cover of “You Fail Me“, the title track to Converge‘s fifth studio album. This goth rock-inspired rendition puts a new spin on that metalcore offering, but that’s not a surprising development, as. Blood Vulture frontman Jordan Olds has considerable experience in reinterpreting the works of others.
He is perhaps best known as ‘Gwarsenio Hall‘, host of ‘Two Minutes To Late Night‘. Amid the pandemic Olds participated in and oversaw numerous covers involving an expansive cast of guest musicians that included members of Tool, Primus, and even Converge themselves, among countless others.
Speaking of taking on this particular track and his admiration for Converge frontman Jacob Bannon, Olds stated:
“The battle of anger and empathy in Jacob‘s writing is so beautiful and because of the dealings I’ve had with struggling loved ones in my life, the song’s subject matter has always hit me like an axe (to fall)
Covering a band that’s still active and creatively thriving isn’t really done in our world, but I think we sometimes forget to celebrate the bands that never stop and never look back. Like many, I wouldn’t be here without their music or their personal support through the years and so I wanted to honor them.”
