Sid Wilson Breaks His Silence To Promote His New Merch Store Following His Reported Firing From Slipknot

Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson has broken his social media silence in the wake of reportedly being ousted from the aforementioned masked metal band. Those hoping for clarity on the status of his current involvement in the multi-platinum group will only be left with more questions however, as Wilson‘s post (see below) is merely video promoting his updated independent merch store, sidthe3rdshop.com.

Much of the metal world’s discourse this weekend has been focused on Wilson, who per a report filed by TMZ yesterday, July 31st, was ‘permanently’ fired from the band. If true, that dismissal would put an end to the role he had held since the late 90s. Since then neither Wilson nor Slipknot have directly addressed the matter. TMZ‘s report went on to state that Wilson found out about the firing yesterday afternoon.

Wilson and the band’s camp have been the source of increased scrutiny since word broke, as fans have scoured the internet to find any official confirmation of the matter. The closest we’ve got to official word on the situation thus far came from Slipknot guitarist Jim Root, who last night took to his social media to issue the following cryptic statement:

“Don’t believe every thing you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”

Stacy Thomson, wife of Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson, also hit social media in the wake of TMZ‘s report, quoting a line about gossipy rumors pulled from the 80s teen comedy, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off‘. She said the following across two separate posts on her Instagram stories:

“My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.”

Her second post read:

“Questions about my reference?

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, kids!

(And yes Ferris buellers day off is a great movie)”

Speculation has also spilled into Wilson‘s personal life. Having split with his fiancée Kelly Osbourne earlier in the year, some have pointed out a quote that was reposted by Osbourne over the weekend on her Instagram story. It read:

“No one will smear your name more viciously than the person terrified you’ll expose the truth about them.”

That quote didn’t originate from Osbourne however, and was a repost from another user she chose to share on her Instagram. That quote has previously shown up on social media in support groups for ‘victims of narcissistic abuse’ and more. The context of Osbourne posting it towards the end of this week was not directly communicated, though fans have taken to debating it.

Whatever the case may be, one can’t argue that Wilson‘s decision to launch a merch store when his profile is at an all-time high isn’t a shrewd business move. Whether or not the band’s camp are making a proverbial statement of their own in staying silent, or are working behind the scenes to finalize the various legalities of removing Wilson from the the multi-million dollar business that is Slipknot has yet to be definitively answered as of press time.
