Latin nü-metal outfit Ill Niño have postponed their plans to tour Russia this summer. The group were controversially set to tour that country this summer, but have newly announced the cancelation of the dates, citing a family medical emergency and the “current escalating war tensions” in the region. The group opted to turn comments off on the below post announcing the cancelation, in which they issued the following statement:

“It is with deep regret that we must inform you that due to a family medical emergency, and the current escalating war tensions, ILL NIÑO must cancel the upcoming Russian tour dates, and postpone to 2027.

We did not come to this decision lightly, as we miss all our Russian fans. Thank you, and see you all soon. “

Few Western artists have opted to tour Russia since the country’s full-fledged invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and the ongoing war that has ensued. Divisive metalcore band As I Lay Dying have been one of the notable exceptions. Alternative metal outfit Silent Planet recently took a stance against bands performing in Russia, and instead took on the risk of performing a pair of shows this summer in Ukraine in a show of solidarity with the embattled country.
