Faith No More will indeed be back out on the road in 2027. After teasing fans yesterday (June 16th) on social media of a return next year, word emerged that the band had signed a global deal with promoter 30e. Now, in a new interview with Rock Talk (see below), the band’s bassist Billy Gould confirmed the news, offering [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“Yeah, we’re gonna do it. We’re gonna play. Yeah, we’re gonna do it. I think… you know, our music is very physical, and a big concern is, like, pretty soon we’re not gonna be able to do this the way we wrote it. We wrote it as 20-year-olds and it and it’s always been very physical. It has to be that way. I can’t play the song if I’m not like that, honestly. With my bass parts, I just can’t do it. But I think… I mean, we all kind of decided, like, we think we can do it. I think that we can do it for a few more years, and we can do it the right way, so we’re gonna give it a go.”
This welcome return from the alternative metal innovators follows a period several years of uncertainty regarding the band’s future. That inactivity came about in the wake of vocalist Mike Patton needing to address his mental health concerns in 2021, leading the band to scrap their touring plans.
However, upon Patton receiving professional help and returning to the road with his other bands, Faith No More laid dormant. Commentary from band members that followed cited Patton‘s unwillingness to get back out there with Faith No More as being the hold up. Recent months however saw those tensions ease considerably.
