Ex-Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert could be facing life in prison for his alleged violent altercation with 79-year-old William Yates, vocalist of Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates. Per the police report on the incident, Ebert allegedly intentionally ran over Yates with his car on March 29th, 2026, after a verbal dispute turned ugly on the front lawn of the Yates residence.

William was left with a broken leg that required surgery as a result of the incident, which according to the Yates family, was the latest in a string of heated exchanges between Ebert and members of the Yates family.

Citing surveillance footage, a police report, alleged that Ebert first swerved at William with his car on March 29th following a heat exchange out front of the Yates residence. William is said to have responded by grabbing a rock and throwing it at Ebert‘s car. It is alleged that Ebert then opted to then steer his car into William at a high rate of speed.

While Ebert had originally faced charges of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault over the incident, The Baltimore Banner report that yesterday, April 30th, saw a Montgomery County grand jury indict Ebert on an upgraded charge of attempted first-degree murder — a charge which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Ebert remains in custody over the incident and also currently faces a first-degree assault charge, as well as two counts of second-degree assault. Ebert previously argued his innocence in court, claiming that he acted in “pure self-defense.”

Ebert was ejected from Turnstile in 2022 amid a bitter split that saw his former bandmates attempt to take legal action against him in the form of peace orders. Turnstile also issued this statement in early April over the altercation with William, condemning Ebert for his alleged actions.
