Dope frontman Edsel Dope has come to an agreement with the fledging new supergroup doPE. The latter is a newly launched venture by Chuck D (Public Enemy, ex-Prophets Of Rage, etc.) and John Densmore of The Doors. That duo recently announced their debut album “no country for old men” for an April 18th release date.

Edsel, being the owner of the Dope trademark, publicly reached out to the two Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers last month, suggesting they could reach an arrangement regarding their use of the name for this project. Per a new post shared by Chuck D yesterday, February 07th, such an arrangement has been struck and it will allow the pair to move forward with the project as planned.

The aforementioned rap legend stated:

“We would like to send a special shout out to Edsel Dope from the band Dope for giving us his blessing, surrounding the trademarked usage of the name Dope for our “no country for old men” collaboration. We appreciate his love and support.”
