Aaron Turner of Isis, SUMAC, Old Man Gloom, etc. fame has launched a new benefit shirt protesting the ongoing activities of ICE, aka United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in the United States. His shirt design was launched yesterday, January 25th, going online in the wake of the ICE-involved fatal shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, MN.

The below shirt design, which features the word ‘NO’ spelled out in ice not only makes a political statement, but also holds a nod to Old Man Gloom‘s 2012 studio album of the same name. Proceeds from the shirt, which is available via bigcartel.com, will go towards Support Phillips Families In Urgent Need — a fundraising effort based out of Minneapolis, MN. The aforementioned link and below product listing for the shirt offer more insight into that cause:

“Send a subtle/not-so-subtle message with one of these fine garments, and help raise funds for Minneapolis folks doing good work in the process. Proceeds from the sales of these shirts will be given to “Support Phillips Families in Urgent Need” – a MN based fund-raising effort providing occupation-impacted families with support for rent relief, groceries, medical needs and more. This design made by A. Turner comes in two styles and is printed on nice Comfort Color T ‘s. Please note: this is a pre-order and shirts will ship in March. You can read more about “Support Phillips Families in Urgent Need” and donate directly here:

Turner‘s endeavor has found support from metalcore pioneers Converge, who issued the below post regarding the shirt:

“We are Converge and we stand with the good people of Minnesota. We stand against sanctioned violence against our neighbors and communities. Our good friend @aaronbturner made this artwork.”
