Neurosis made their return to the stage last night, July 25th, playing their first show since 2019. The pioneering post-metal faction went on hiatus that year, after revelations emerged of their vocalist/guitarist Scott Kelly‘s abusive behavior to his family. The group publicly condemned and severed ties with him in response, with the band subsequently falling silent until earlier this year.
This past March saw the surprise release of their first new album since 2016, “An Undying Love For A Burning World“. That album came with the addition of a new vocalist/guitarist in Aaron Turner (SUMAC, ex-Isis, etc.). Yesterday saw the band mount their comeback show at the annual ‘Fire In The Mountains‘ festival in Blackfeet Nation, MT.
That concert was of course also their first live outing since welcoming in Turner. Fan-filmed footage from that performance has been shared online below, while the following setlist was said to be played, according to those in attendance:
“We Are Torn Wide Open“
“Mirror Deep“
“First Red Rays“
“End Of The Harvest“
“The Tide“
“Lost“
“Seething and Scattered“
“Distill (Watching the Swarm)“
“Blind“
“Untethered“
