There’s been a lot of mutual admiration between 311 and Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst amid their ongoing Latin American touring together this fall. Durst has been vocal about his fandom of the multi-platinum rap-rockers on social media, briefly joining them onstage during the November 29th opening date of the tour and requesting they play their 1993 track “Feels So Good“.
That display of mutual admiration has since blossomed into Durst joining 311 onstage for “Freak Out“, another track taken from 311‘s gold-certified debut album, “Music“. That pairing took place last night (December 09th) in San Miguel, Peru and footage of it can be found below:
As Durst has since gone on to reveal on his Instagram yesterday, December 09th, “Music” was a pivotal album for him early on. He cited it along with key releases from other early rap, rock & metal hybrids as proverbially paving the way for the nü-metal that would follow several years later.
“An absolute honor to share the stage with @311 on this loserville tour. fact – @311 ‘s album MUSIC was one of the first of a small handful of bands that I was listening to back in the day when hip hop/rock/alternative was really starting to make sense. artists like beastie boys, urban dance squad, mike patton, rage against the machine, and @311 paved the way. always grateful for their gifts”
The remaining dates of the two bands’ aforementioned tour together, which also features Bullet For My Valentine (performing “The Poison“), Ecca Vandal and more, run as follows:
12/13 Santiago, CHL – Estadion Monumental
12/16 Buenos Aires, ARG – Parque Estadio Nacional
12/20 Sao Paulo, BRA – Allianz Parque
