Finnish symphonic metal outfit Apocalyptica have scored their first round of gold and platinum records in the United States. This past Monday, December 01st, saw the band’s 2007 album “Worlds Collide” officially go gold. A single from that effort also received a new certification from the RIAA.
“I Don’t Care“, the third and final track to be released from that record, has newly gone 2x platinum, with its initial gold and platinum certifications being made in tandem with that multi-platinum status reveal. That song features a guest spot from Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace, Saint Asonia, etc. fame.
Another collaborative track from Apocalyptica also newly notched up gold status, with “Not Strong Enough” from their seventh studio album “7th Symphony“, having been awarded that certification. Shinedown frontman Brent Smith guests on that cut, which was also the third and final single to be issued from that record.
*A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit. 150 streams of a song also equate to a track-equivalent unit.
