Slipknot‘s newly launched teaser site, 742617000027.net, is taking fans on a bit of a journey with an apparent July 21st reveal date planned. Fans recently began being redirected from a previous teaser site the masked metallers have utilized for their self-titled album’s 25th anniversary, youcantkillme.com. The code ‘comeplaydying’ should gain you a foothold into the new site. The phrase itself having been associated with past merch and an original digipak release of the aforementioned self-titled album.

Meanwhile, a recently shared image on the band’s social media of various recordings from the self-titled sessions this week (see below), and the aforementioned new teaser site both share the phrase “worse forwards than backwards” — another phrase associated with the “Slipknot” digipak art. Adding in that the teaser site mentioned above shares its name with a song from the Iowan band’s 2x multi-platinum self-titled album, and it seems pretty clear what’s in store.

It’s no secret that Slipknot have been preparing an elaborate 25th anniversary edition of their lauded 1999 album. This past September saw the band’s percussionist/artist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan confirm the project was in the works. He told Metal Hammer at the time:

“I’m fully involved with putting together a reissue package, because I’m the band caretaker. I’m the one that held everything over the years: all the DAT tapes from the [sound]board from all our first shows, all the videotapes from studio sessions at SR Audio and Indigo Ranch, different test mixes that we gave to other people that we said ‘No’ to at that time and that were never released, but are amazing.

They would never have been listened to 25 years ago, but now that the golden egg has been laid, and everyone knows it, you’re not going to listen to another mix and go, ‘This is better’, you’re just gonna go, ‘Wow, this is Slipknot like this, 25 years ago.’”

He continued:

“There’s new artwork, new photos from the time, there’s so much music that’s so punk rock from board tapes, there’s video documents, there’s a lot – audio, visuals, everything. It’s the best of all things Slipknot.”
