Ozzy Osbourne‘s 2020 Greg Johnston-directed documentary ‘The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne‘ will receive its first cinema screening on July 04th at Millennium Point in Black Sabbath‘s hometown of Birmingham, UK.
That screening will take place just a day ahead of Ozzy and Black Sabbath‘s final live sendoff, ‘Back To Beginning‘, which will be held at Villa Park in Birmingham and feature a who’s who of metal and hard rock icons paying homage to the pioneering heavy metal outfit and their charismatic frontman. Among some of the featured performers for that concert are Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera and many more.
The aforementioned screening will be raising funds for Parkinson’s disease and children’s hospice and healthcare-related charities. The following was said of this showing:
“The world premiere cinema screening of a film detailing the life of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne will take place in Birmingham. The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne will be shown at Millennium Point on 4 July, the day before a fundraising concert at Villa Park in the city. People will have two opportunities to see the film on the day, at either 16:00 or 18:30 BST, with all profits donated to charity. The film traces Ozzy Osbourne’s life, from his childhood in the city through the rise of Black Sabbath and ensuing success as a solo artist, the venue said.
At the end of the Friday evening, special guest Jack Osbourne, Ozzy’s son, will be appearing live for a Q&A with those attending the later screening. Proceeds from the event will go to the Cure Parkinson’s , Acorns Children’s Hospice and Birmingham Children’s Hospital charities.”
Ozzy himself has been besieged by health problems in recent years, stemming from both a late night fall that disputed steel rods previously inserted into his spine to correct a past injury, as well as the progressive symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
The 76-year-old’s health struggles are expected to be explored in an upcoming documentary titled ‘Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape For Now‘, which is due to begin airing on Paramount+ later in the year. You can find more on that feature-length doc in this past article.
