Converge Are Recording At Least 17 New Songs For Their Long-Awaited Next Album

While their ‘Bloodmoon‘ collaborative effort with Chelsea Wolfe, Stephen Brodsky and more helped to bridge the gap in 2021, it has still been a remarkably long wait between albums for stalwart metalcore outfit Converge.

Back in December of last year, the band’s drummer Ben Koller revealed that some 27 songs were in the works for this highly anticipated return. Defying convention, it would appear that breadth of material is actually being laid down during the ongoing studio sessions for the album, as opposed to be whittled down to a dozen or so tracks.

In an update shared via Koller yesterday, April 16th, he revealed that he has already tracked drums for 17 new songs so far, with more still to come. Recording sessions for this tenth traditional full-length offering the group commenced a few weeks back, with vocalist Jacob Bannon detailing the process via his Substack.

The band previously communicated that new music from this album will be arriving later this year, with more details to come. Converge‘s last ‘proper’ album “The Dusk In Us” arrived back in 2017.
