Deftones Records Signed By Chino Moreno Show Up Online For Hundreds Of Dollars In The Wake Of His Recent Standoff With Autograph Seekers

Deftones frontman Chino Moreno‘s recent terse exasperation with autograph hounds seems a lot more justified these days. The highly influential musician recently made some headlines for shutting down a group of ‘fans’ who had accosted him in the streets with stacks of Deftones records to be signed. While Moreno was polite enough to indulge some of the individuals, his patience eventually grew thin. Before abruptly walking away, he told the various individuals:

“Go ahead and tell your friends I’m not doing this shit no more. You guys go online in your little groups and shit, tell people I’m not signing shit no more. I signed these right now, but let them know I’m not signing anything.”

While some may have taken Moreno‘s actions as being somewhat egregious, many also speculated that Moreno likely assumed that some of these individuals were not true fans, but instead flippers looking to score autographs and turn them around for sale online for exorbitant sums.

While autographed items from Deftones have remained a popular get throughout the band’s respectable run, their more recent viral success on social media platforms like TikTok has seen such items become even more desirable. That heightened interest is firmly displayed by the success of the U.S. arena tour they’re currently headlining.

eBay remains a popular place to sell these autographed items, and a fan of Deftones on Reddit recently compiled screencaps of various records and items autographed by Chino and other members of the band being sold for $100s of dollars each.

That gallery can be found below, with the listings being attributed to entertainment & sports memorabilia retailer, Coast To Coast Collectibles. That company appears to have newly procured a number of signed items by Moreno. Going by the listings featured, it would seem that $440 USD is the average price that this particular seller has determined for an album Moreno autographs.

While none of proofs in the listings featured stem from the above-mentioned video that got attention last month, many of the listings have newly been made. Some also appear to find Moreno wearing items of clothing at least similar to that which he’s been seen to be sporting on this current tour.

Autograph flipping is of course by no means a new practice, but it does remain a thorny issue for many artists. Much like ticket scalping, outside of the base cost of the album that gets signed, that is money neither Moreno nor the band will likely ever see, despite their direct involvement in the product itself.

Yeah no wonder he got fed up
