The bizarre circumstances surrounding this week’s dissolution of New Jersey hardcore band GEL continue to unfold. This past Wednesday, March 19th, the outfit played their final show, later issuing this statement.
In it, they accused their ex-guitarist Anthony Webster embezzling the band’s funds on “a truly unbelievable number of OnlyFans purchases and mysterious CashApp transactions, likely in the same lane.” The group further accused Webster of leaking nude images of members of the band online and more.
Since then, there’s been some anonymously made counter allegations, along with several other revelations regarding the band’s members apparent past activities. However, amid all the chaos, a ‘new’ song from Gel arrived online titled “Gooners“.
That seemingly AI created track doesn’t appear to be an official offering from the group, and finds their recent breakup statement set to music. The song has shown up on the band’s various digital service provider profiles, including Spotify, Apple Music and more. If you’re not familiar with the slang of gooning and gooners, it refers to those a bit too obsessed with manually pleasuring themselves. The single’s cover art even takes a brief swipe at Zulu, whom themselves have recently parted ways with their vocalist Anaiah Rasheed Muhammad in light of troubling allegations, which he has since denied.
