The rollout of The Mars Volta‘s as-yet officially unannounced album “Lucro sucio; Los ojos del vacio” remains a curious response to one of the worst-case scenarios in music industry marketing. Word of the album leaked out months in advance, with the digital rips of the album itself soon following. Rather than react with an all hands on deck early rollout, the band have instead taken to performing the album live nightly, and reportedly have even gifting fans burnt copies.
While there has yet to be any proper fanfare from the progressive rock collective for the record, vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala did recently seemingly confirm that the record will arrive on April 11th (see below,) as has long been rumored. Pre-orders for the album have also been cropping up at various music retailers, including Amazon.
