Influential prog rockers The Mars Volta stunned their fans earlier this week when they opened their latest tour with a performance of their as-yet unannounced new album. Rumblings of that record’s existence have been circulating for roughly a month now, after leaked product listings seemingly spilled the beans on their plans. A subsequent leak of the audio of that effort has also seemingly been circulating among the group’s fans, though it is unconfirmed if it is the final version of that opus.
Per those leaks, that record is titled “Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos del Vacio” and will arrive on April 11th. While The Mars Volta themselves have yet to address any of that, their aforementioned show at the Moda Center in Portland, OR this past Tuesday, February 25th spoke volumes. With the second date of that trek having just taken place last night (February 27th) at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, WA, fans were armed with cameras rolling.
