Mastodon have announced the departure of their vocalist/guitarist Brent Hinds. In a statement shared via their social media today, March 07th, the progressive sludge metal outfit stated:

“Friends and Fans, After 25 monumental years together, Mastodon and Brent Hinds have mutually decided to part ways.

We’re deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared and we wish him nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors. We are still very inspired and excited to show up for fans in this next chapter of Mastodon. As we move forward, all 2025 touring plans will remain intact. We look forward to seeing you on the road. – Mastodon

Hinds himself does not appear to have publicly commented on the matter as of yet. Hinds did however create a bit of a mini-stir in the scene a few weeks back, after reportedly sharing the below image to his Instagram stories. Mastodon themselves are among the artists booked to perform at the upcoming ‘Back To The Beginning‘ concert, which will serve as the farewell send-off for Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne.
