Tonight’s (September 27th) second date of the annual ‘Louder Than Life‘ festival at in Louisville, KY has been canceled due to inclement weather. A statement issued by the festival’s organizers today read as follows:
“WEATHER UPDATE
Louder family, we’re heartbroken to share this, but the weather just isn’t in our favor today. We’ve been working closely with our meteorologists and local authorities, holding on to hope that we could open doors, but the continuous wind gusts simply make it impossible for us to proceed safely.
Throughout the day there were moments where it seemed possible, but in the end, Mother Nature won this round.
We know how disappointing this is—it’s gut-wrenching for us too. But your safety, along with the safety of our artists and crew, will always be our number one priority.
The support and patience you showed us today has been nothing short of incredible. We fully intend to rock out with you tomorrow, check back in the morning for updates.”
Prior to the cancelation the following shelter in place warning was issued:
“ATTENTION:
SHELTER IN PLACEPlease safely seek shelter.
If you’re camping, seek shelter in your vehicle, RV, or Freedom Hall.If you’re parked, head back to your vehicle.
For those who arrived on foot, please make your way to Freedom Hall for shelter.”
Today’s fest was due to see a the second reunion show from thrash metal pillars Slayer, as well as sets from fellow Big Four members Anthrax. Tom Morello, Evanescence, Lorna Shore, Clutch and numerous others were also booked to play.
Yesterday’s kickoff date of the festival faced consistent rain with the forecast seemingly calling for continued precipitation throughout the weekend.
A video wall was flailing in the wind when we were attempting load in tonight at @LTLFest. We were all evacuated off the stage. Don’t think they didn’t try to get the show in, DWP are the best and tried hard. It just wasn’t safe. #LouderThanLife #Slayer pic.twitter.com/uA1XiJYati
