This past weekend turned out to not be the time to stage a heavy music festival. The ‘New England Metal And Hardcore Festival‘ in Worcester, MA, the ‘Riot Fest” in Chicago, IL, and the ‘Knofest Iowa‘ festival in Des Moines, IA, all suffered from unfavorable weather conditions, with the latter festival ultimately being cut short as a result.

As the stormy weather moved in, organizers for the ‘Knotfest Iowa‘ attempted to accommodate by shortening set times of the other performers to move up Slipknot‘s headlining performance. However, 11 songs into their hometown celebration of the 25th anniversary of their self-titled 1999 album, the masked metal phenomenon were forced to call it a day. A statement issued by organizers on social media read:

“Unfortunately, the weather is not cooperating, and it is time to pull the plug. Please exit the park slowly and drive home safely. Thanks for joining us at Knotfest Iowa.”

Given the heavy rainfall, it was somewhat ironic that the event was held at the Waterworks Park in Des Moines, IA.
