NYC alternative metal band Life Of Agony have paid tribute to the ‘The Crow‘ franchise and the lead star of the 1994 film adaptation of it, Brandon Lee. The latter tragically died during filming the movie as the result of a firearms accident. That franchise was also rebooted this summer with a poorly received new entry starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs.
Life Of Agony titled this new track ‘The Crow (In Memory Of B.L.)“, with sessions for it having taken place at Sear Sound in New York City, NY, as well as The Nest Studio in Long Island, NY. The band’s own Joey Zampella took on the production engineering and mixing for the song, which was later mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins).
A music video was shot with Derek Soto and is available below. Bassist Alan Robert said of the track:
“There’s something very special about the original Crow that made it timeless, and there’s a reason that it resonated with us as kids. It was an absolute tragedy… Brandon Lee was killed the year we did our first album River Runs Red, and by the time The Crow came out in ’94, he was already a legend.
Brandon completely embodied the role, made it iconic, and lost his life in the process. It was just so incredibly sad and affected us deeply. He was such a charismatic character and in the very beginning stages of his career. Director Alex Proyas captured lightning in a bottle.”
