Code Orange, etc. guitarist/vocalist Reba Meyers has taken to social media to comment on her new role as the touring guitarist for multi-platinum shock rocker Marilyn Manson. Meyers was a surprise addition to Manson‘s latest live entourage, which was unveiled onstage earlier this month. Also joining Manson in his current attempt at a musical comeback are guitarist Tyler Bates, bassist Piggy D (ex-Rob Zombie) and drummer Gil Sharone (ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc.).
Manson‘s return to the spotlight remains a controversial move, given that he remains embroiled in several civil lawsuits filed against him over allegations of sexual assault & misconduct. Manson has continued to deny the allegations put against him by over a dozen women and filed a defamation suit against perhaps his most prominent accuser, his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood, and her associate Ilma Gore.
While much of his complaint has been struck down in court, several claims against the pair are still going ahead. Manson alleged in his aforementioned countersuit that Wood & Gore served as ringleaders in a concerted effort of coaching women to come forward against him with allegations of sexual assault and more.
In light of those allegations going public back in early 2021, Manson‘s career was shelved, with his label, manager, talent agency, and more all dropping him en masse. His tour that kicked off this month is his first proper run since 2019 and has been accompanied by new music, including the recently released “Raise The Red Flag“.
Given the above, associating with Manson in recent years has remained divisive. Those contrasting opinions have certainly been playing out in the comments of the below post Meyers shared on social media, marking her first public statements since debuting onstage with Manson on the 02nd of this month.
She stated via her Instagram yesterday, August 18th:
“See me performing with @marilynmanson now as he returns in awesome renewed form on tour this month and next, and in his new video for Raise The Red Flag.
I’m proud to represent the growth, confidence, forgiveness, humanity, and change that comes with this, and to be up there with such talented motherfuckers. Everyone is aiming for growth and not stagnation. World needs that attitude right now.
Thanks to all the new peeps that have been showing love and support my way “
