Storm Corrosion‘s sole self-titled debut album will receive a new reissue on September 27th through Kscope. Originally released back in 2012, that union of Opeth vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt and Porcupine Tree vocalist, etc. Steven Wilson will arrive on vinyl, Blu-ray, CD and presumably digital formats.

The centerpiece of this take on the record is a new Dolby Atmos mix overseen by Wilson. 5.1 DTS-HD Surround Sound mixes and instrumental mixes of each of the album’s songs, along with a mini-documentary, and a live rendition of “Drag Ropes” captured at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England back in September of 2015, will also be included.

Pre-orders are available now via kscope.lnk.to/stormcorrosion.

Wilson stated:

“‘Storm Corrosion‘ was an album made by myself and Mikael Åkerfeldt of the band Opeth in 2012, and one which both of us considered a deeply satisfying artistic success. It remains one of my favourite releases in my whole catalogue.

Part of what made it so much fun was that pretty much anything that either of us suggested, the other would agree it should definitely be pursued, no matter how crazy and off the wall it sounded. We’d talked many times over the years about doing a project with just the two of us. In 2011 we quietly got together for a week at my studio, and started to make music, not knowing where it would take us, but knowing that the last thing we wanted to do was the obvious.

Instead, we made an album of weird psychedelic chamber folk music with lots of dissonance and orchestral arrangements. I don’t know what the people expecting a full-on heavy rock album made of it. In many ways it has become the cult classic we always intended it to be.”
