New music from Alice In Chains vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell launched online tonight. Below you can hear the song “Vilified” off of the grunge legend’s next solo album, “I Want Blood“. The multi-platinum musician had some help in the studio for this cut, with Metallica, etc. bassist/vocalist Robert Trujillo, and drummer Gil Sharone (Stolen Babies, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) laying down their contributions under acclaimed producer Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age).
Cantrell had the following to share of “I Want Blood“, which he co-produced alongside Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stone Age):
“This record is a serious piece of work. It’s a motherfucker. It’s hard, no doubt, and completely unlike ‘Brighten‘. And that’s what you want, to end up in a different place. There’s a confidence to this album. I think it’s some of my best songwriting and playing, and certainly some of my best singing.”
As for this first single, Cantrell offered:
“‘Vilified‘ travels a lot of places in just four and a half minutes. It’s got a ferocity and really aggressive vibe to it.”
In addition to Trujillo and Sharone, “I Want Blood” also features performances from Guns N’ Roses bassist/vocalist Duff McKagan, Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin and backing vocals from Greg Puciato (Better Lovers, ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan) and Lola Colette. The record will be out on October 18th and feature the following track listing:
01 – “Vilified”
02 – “Off The Rails”
03 – “Afterglow”
04 – “I Want Blood”
05 – “Echoes Of Laughter”
