Veteran punk rock outfit Anti-Flag have apparently broken up, issuing a statement outlining as much yesterday, July 19th, via their Patreon. The apparent dissolution of the band has not emerged without some controversy however, as reports are coming in of a rumored allegation of sexual assault apparently being tied to a member of the band.
Consequence have some digging into the matter, with the band’s fan community citing this recent episode of the ‘enough.podcast‘, which finds a woman detailing allegedly being raped by an unnamed vocalist of an unidentified ‘political punk’ band.
Thus far, there don’t appear to have been any public accusations levied against Anti-Flag or their singer Justin Sane, though the band’s Reddit community is rife with speculation.
Anti-Flag‘s statement on their breakup reads:
“Anti-Flag has disbanded. the patreon has been switched into a mode where it will no longer charge the monthly fee. i will begin to process refunds to all patrons in the coming weeks. once all refunds are processed the patreon page will also be removed.”
