A late 90s breakout band, funky nü-metal punk outfit Snot seem poised for success until tragedy struck. Having delivered memorable performances across the 1998 ‘Ozzfest‘ tour (Strait was infamously arrested for performing naked) and established themselves with their 1997 debut album, “Get Some“, the group’s rise was cut short when their vocalist Lynn Strait and his beloved dog Dobbs were killed in a car accident in December of 1998.
With Strait‘s vocals not tracked, the songs originally intended to appear on the band’s follow-up to “Get Some” would go on to be repurposed into an all-star tribute album to the fallen musician. That outing was released in 2000 as “Strait Up“, and saw vocal contributions from many friends of Lynn and the band, including members of System Of A Down, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Sevendust and many more.
Now comes word that a documentary on Lynn Strait is in the works and that his family have given it their blessing. Strait‘s former Snot bandmate, guitarist Mikey Doling confirmed that production is underway on that doc. Speaking to co-host Joshua Toomey on a new episode of the ‘Nu Pod‘ (see below,) Doling offered:
“I’ve not told anybody this at all. There’s a director who reached out to us—reached out to me… We’re thinking about doing a documentary on Lynn Strait.” He continued, “We’re actually working on stuff now. We’ve started some interviews. We started with his family first: sisters, mother. Even the director has already flown back to New York and met with Lynn‘s family back in New York; his aunts, uncles, cousins. So we’ve actually started [filming]…”
