Quiet Riot drummer Frankie Banali has passed away at the age of 68 following a battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He passed away surrounded by his family in Los Angeles, CA last night, August 20th, after months of chemotherapy.

Banali had been a consistent member and driving force behind Quiet Riot over the years since originally joining the band in 1982. He performed on the group’s biggest hits, including their 6x multi-platinum 1983 album “Metal Health” and it’s platinum-selling 1984 follow-up, “Condition Critical“.

Banali had been open about his cancer battle across the past year. According to his family, ‘His wish for everyone is that you be your own health advocate for early detection so you may live long and rescue many animals.’ Donations in his name are being encouraged for the following organizations which he supported: Fixnation.org, Pancan.org and Children.org.

His widow Regina commented:

“He put up an inspiringly brave and courageous 16-month battle to the end and continued playing live as long as he could. Standard chemotherapy stopped working and a series of strokes made the continuation on a clinical trial impossible. He ultimately lost the fight at 7:18PM on August 20th in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife and daughter.”
