Today being April Fool’s day, there was no shortage of bogus news stories to take in. Here’s some of the highlights from the metal world:
Gwar cancel their ‘Gwar-B-Q‘ after blowing their budget on the commercial:
Attila‘s drummer overdosed on weed:
With a heavy heart, we had to say good bye to our drummer @AtTiLaSean today due to a overdose of WEED. Be safe out there guys 😕

Obscura landed a hair care sponsorship:
We are proud to announce the endorsement with L'Oréal Professionel. We have worked with this company since the beginning and we are happy to promote them on our Akróasis world tour.

Noted racist/convicted murde/black metal pioneer Varg Vikernes announced Burzum and Mayhem would be touring together:
Papa Roach went country with their new album “Cowtown Kickers“:
Bryan Stars was announced as the headliner for the 2016 ‘Summer Slaughter Tour‘:
In Hearts Wake announced a new album, complete with Northlane guitarist Josh Smith on the cover. This one in particular I fell for, thanks to not remembering that Australia are basically a day ahead of North America.
Who figured out the true face of #Seaskimmer? It was none other than Josh of Northlane! Today is of course April Fools…

Fred Durst called DJ Lethal, inviting him back to Limp Bizkit:
Converge‘s Kurt Ballou working on Minor Threat‘s reunion album (or he just learned a lesson about filenames from a previous picture.)
PRO TIP: When a kick drum is exceedingly bright on hard hits, try using s multi-band compressor as a dynamic "tilt EQ."…

The Dillinger Escape Plan shared new music:
Beartooth also did the same, but went a bit more elaborate with a reworking of a previous track:
Sworn Enemy vocalist Sal Lococo quit the band and Brian Johnson of AC/DC(?) was taking over.
Avenged Sevenfold psyched out some fans with new music, and then proceeded to actually preview some new music:
And Zao decided to re-mix “The Fear Is What Keeps Me Here“:
“Almost done with the remix of The Fear Is What Keeps Us Here album. Cleaning up the distortion on the vocals, re-triggering the drum sounds and adding new singing parts has taken longer than we thought it would”
That’s of course just some of the hijinks that took place today.
