Sex Pistols’ current vocalist Frank Carter (formerly of Gallows, etc.) took issue with the actions of a concertgoer during the legendary punk band’s set at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO last night, October 09th. Carter went on to verbally berate the man from the stage, before having security escort him out.
As Carter went on to say from the stage, that male audience member took issue with the band designating a place in the crowd for a women-only mosh pit at the concert. Fan-filmed footage of that can be seen below, while Carter‘s comments from the stage can be read below [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“Ladies if you’ve ever wanted to mosh or dance in a safe environment without getting an elbow to the f*cking face… What’s the matter? No, listen, shut the f*ck up. Shut up. Shut the f*ck up, Just stop f*cking talking. There’s always f*cking one. Let me get to the end of the f*cking story and then get on the f*cking stage. Just shut the f*ck up. Every f*cking time.
Every time, there’s always a man that tells me, ‘[Women] can do this all the f*cking time.’ Like, they can’t. They f*cking can’t. Do you know why? Because they walk in the mosh pit and they get a f*cking elbow to the head by a f*cking idiot!
You’re shaking your head like you’re a f*cking ‘woman’? Are you f*cking stupid? It’s not your lived experience, so just shut the f*ck up! F*ckin’; Christ. Every f*cking time. You’re still shaking your f*cking head. Do you know what, instead of crouching, just f*cking leave, bro!
There ya go then. How is it so difficult for you to see space made for women at a Sex Pistols gig? How the f*ck did you decide? ‘No! They can f*cking do this whenever.’ Ask any one of them if they feel safe in every mosh pit! Don’t roll your f*cking eyes at me—you f*cking did this. You did this!”
After the concertgoer went on to bring up an all-gender bathroom at the venue, Carter responded by stating, “That’s brilliant. I’m f*cking super grateful that there’s an all-gender bathroom here. I love that. There is no…”
Carter then got exasperated and banged the mic on his head, before stating, “That’s what it’s like. That’s what it’s like. Banging your f*ckin’ head off a brick wall. Are you lot f*cking ready? Because this is for you, it’s not for him.”
Carter then attempted to move things along, going on to say, “Now listen gentlemen, gentlemen, you have a responsibility…” before again being interrupted by the concertgoer’s actions again. Carter went on to say, “Are you f*cking seriously doing this? Oi, security, just get this f*ckin’ lump outta here.”
Carter went on to tell the fan they weren’t welcome at the show, adding, “And you know what? If you’ve got a f*cking problem with me, you can see me outside after geezer…”
After having the fan ejected, Carter went on to add:
“Right, as I was f*cking say before I was rudely interrupted by a man that wanted to tell me that, actually, there’s no gender inequality in the world; If you’ve ever wanted to dance in a safe environment, without the risk of getting an elbow to the face by some hardcore ninja, or being groped by some absolute f*cking Neanderthal, or even worse, being mansplained for three f*cking minutes that actually you can dance, this is your chance to do in a safe environment, where not only all the f*cking girls will have your back, but all the other men in the room now, will keep all the other f*cking drunk men out the f*cking way, and they will let you occupy the space, that they have occupied their whole f*cking lives, and they didn’t even f*cking know.
