A song titled “May this pain never leave” from Boundaries‘ approaching new album “Yearning: the unbeautiful after” was released tonight, June 18th. The metalcore group had their longtime videographer Sarah Holick oversee the shoot for this performance-themed clip. Filming took place during a set at The Webster Underground in the band’s hometown of Hartford, CT.
Frontman Matthew McDougal had a bit to say about this song, offering:
“The premise of the song is laid out very plainly and intentionally. It exists as an extension of the Colin Parkes quote: ‘The pain of grief is just as much a part of life as the joy of love; it is, perhaps, the price we pay for love, the cost of commitment.’
The track was written in the wake of the 2025 plane crash that claimed the lives of Dave Shapiro, Kendall Fortner, Emma Huke, Daniel Carmelo, along with two others. Many of the individuals who perished in that plane crash were employed by the band via Sound Talent Group — a company Shapiro co-founded. Shaprio was piloting the plane at the time of the accident. McDougall further stated of the song:
“With the sudden and violent loss of a number of people close to the band this past year it became impossible to not write about the bereavement and the subsequent emotions. As much as it hurts to miss these people, I hope with all my heart it never stops so that I may miss them with the weight and significance they deserve.”
Boundaries‘ aforementioned new album will be out July 17th on Sumerian Records.
