Controversial Russian activists/band Pussy Riot have scored a guest appearance from Avenged Sevenfold on their newly announced album “CYKA“. That record will be out June 12th and has just been preceded by this newly unveiled collaborative track, “CANDY DOPAMINE“. Members of the aforementioned multi-platinum alternative metal band collaborated on that cut, which you can hear below.
Nadya Tolokonnikova, founder of Pussy Riot, commented of this track:
“This song is kind of a love & hate song to prescription and designer drug culture. It started with my dependence on anti depressants, but it’s also looking at everyone now mentalhealthmaxxing and looksmaxxing via pills and injections. It’s not a judgement, it’s just an observation and my personal experience with these things is that I have to be in a long term relationship with them for my PTSD and depression.”
This isn’t the first time the aforementioned two artists have crossed paths. Back in 2023, Tolokonnikova guested on a reworked version of Avenged Sevenfold‘s “We Love You“. Avenged Sevenfold would also go on to invite Pussy Riot to open for them.
Pussy Riot live in exile from Russia, after their fierce criticisms of the powers that be and various aspects of life in that country have previously seen them arrested and jailed.
