Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has long been known to volunteer his time and money to causes that assist those less fortunate. He’s frequently been spotted providing and cooking up meals for those in need in California, and unlike others, for the most part he has approached his charitable acts in public silence.
While it’s obvious he finds joy in helping others and has seen the hurt and suffering caused by these troubling times up-close, Grohl hasn’t been known to express his political views. However, a recent interview with Irish Times saw him break his relative silence on the current state of the United States.
Speaking of the political climate in the U.S. at the moment and his frustrations with it, he offered:
“Fucking Neil Young is angrier than ever – jeez, Louise. But, yeah, of course, it’s hard not to feel political living in America, where we’re deeply divided. And there’s injustice, and there’s so much hate and fear, and it’s such a drag.”
“I try to love everyone, because I think that’s what you’re supposed to do – and I do. But there needs to be change in that direction, and it’s been hard to find in the States.”
While not explicitly condemnatory, Grohl‘s statement at least gives an indication of his current political stance. Next Friday, April 24th, Grohl can continue to let the music do the talking however, as that day will see the release of Foo Fighters‘ twelfth studio album, “Your Favorite Toy“.
