Sparta vocalist/guitarist Jim Ward has spoken out against the usage of his band’s song “Air” in the below video recently shared by the El Paso, TX Border Patrol. Ward, a native of the aforementioned city, rose to prominence as a member of At The Drive In before launching Sparta with several members of At The Drive In in the early 00s.
The offending video in question, which can be seen below, shows a controlled blast being conducted outside of El Paso in preparation for border security purposes. Ward took to social media yesterday, March 17th, to denounce the usage of his band’s song in the video, stating:
“I’m not going to repost it or give it any attention but please know we are aware of our song being used in a border wall propaganda video and are working on having it removed. You absolutely know we are appalled.”
