Post-hardcore outfit Sparta‘s new studio album “Cut A Silhouette” has arrived, and so too has a music video for the song “Without Your Hands“. That clip sports direction from Travis Shinn and is now airing below. Jim Ward (ex-At The Drive In) fronts that outfit and had the following to say about this latest track to be given the spotlight:
“I want to tell my partner how she has held me up, how I strive to get there. It is optimism, both lyrically and musically. I always wake up optimistic, and this feels like a comfortable song to me. This is a morning song.”
As for the title to this record, Ward cribbed it from a documentary on late comedian/actor John Candy, honing in on a line Candy‘s then child co-star Macaulay Culkin said in remembrance of the Canadian comedic great:
“He said that when he met John Candy, he just entered your brain and cut a silhouette. Like, he just left an impression is the way I see it. And when I heard him say that, I was like ‘Oh! That’s what I want this record to be.’ I want it to leave an impression.”
You can decide for yourself now if Ward was successful in his attempts of leaving such an impression. As for live plans, the outfit will be playing the following shows across the coming months.
