As I Lay Dying expect to lock in on their ninth studio album after completing their current touring commitments. The metalcore band are presently out on a controversial Russian tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Shadows Are Security“. That run will conclude with a show in Israel later this month, after which the group intend to focus on their latest comeback album.
Helmed by the ever-divisive Tim Lambesis, As I Lay Dying‘s lineup was once again rebuilt in 2025, following an explosive second mass exodus of members in 2024. Speaking recently with Egor Erushin, bassist/vocalist Chris Clancy said of the band’s progress with their next full-length offering:
“We’ve got all the songs ready. We’ve got way more songs than we need, and we’ve been whittling through ’em. So we’re gonna sit down while we’re on the road, actually, and kind of do some more development to the songs. And when we get back [home after the tour], we’re gonna really start recording it. So we were gonna start recording it in February, but we thought, well, as we’re all together, we can kind of develop ideas together as a group and go from there. So it’s gonna be a busy tour, for many reasons. But we’ve got a lot of hours when we’re traveling.”
Lambesis added:
“I will say this — as soon as we get home from this tour, it’s our highest priority to focus on that. We cleared everything up so that this is entirely the focus after this.”
The pair also indicated that at least one or two songs they’ve written have incorporated a throwback sound seemingly influenced by the band revisiting “Shadows Are Security” on the road both last year and this winter.
